As the Tamil remake of Malayalam super hit film ‘Drishyam’ that will
have ‘Ulaganayagan’ Kamal Haasan in lead role, was launched recently the
film’s director Jeetu Joseph has received a legal notice from noted
Bollywood producer Ekta Kapoor.
Ekta, has acquired the rights of
Japanese film ‘The Devotion of Suspect X’ based on a novel written by
Keigo Higashino. ‘Drirshyam’ story allegedly has similarities with the
novel and since the film is going o be remade in Hindi also, Ekta has
felt that the prospects of her project will be affected.
Jeetu has however said ’Drishyam’ is no
way connected the Japanese film which he watched after he received
Ekta’s notice Since both the movies are about murder cover-ups the
allegation has raised but the similarities between creative works are
quite unavoidable.
Jeetu also assured that Ekta need not
worry about her project as remake of ‘Drishyam’ is completely not based
on the Japanese film or book. He also said he will not be directing the
Hindi remake of ‘Drishyam’ since he has prior commitments in Malayalam.
